Spring 2016

It has been a busy month for us here at the winery, with many days of racking, blending, and many happy hours barrel sampling. We have chosen some lots for single vineyard designation and have selected a few Cabernet barrels for our Reserve bottling. The Lot 5 Red Blend has come together wonderfully and we are excited about some new additions to offer, namely our 2013 Cabernet Franc from Rancho Rocoso, a certified organic vineyard in Bennet Valley, and two single vineyard Russian River Valley Pinots. Our 2014 Treehouse Vineyard Pinot Noir is from a new (young) vineyard a couple miles outside of Graton, which yielded a delightful, fresh and light-bodied wine. The 2014 Ritchie Pinot Noir, from the esteemed eponymous vineyard (Aubert, Hobbs, Swan) is a more dense, structured and classic Russian River Pinot.

We are very excited to share these wines and all our newest releases with you soon. We just bottled our very last lot this week and are storing the wines for a few weeks to let them settle down from any bottle shock. Expect news of our Spring Release in April! In the meantime, our current releases are for sale via this site or by phone- we are always happy to assist with any selections or to provide any additional information you may need. Let us know how we can help- we are here for you.

Thank you for your support of Cinque Wines.

Current Releases - Tasting Notes

2014 North Coast Cuvée - This wine screams summer! This is a fresh, zippy dry white wine with bright citrus fruit and racy, refreshing acidity. 85% French Colombard, with a small percentage of Pinot Gris and Viognier filling out the mid palate and offering up some tropical aromatics. This is an amazing spring and summer sipper- a picnic and party wine, with notes of lemon zest, nectarine, and grapefruit.

2014 Sonoma Coast Rosé - Dry and fragrant, with an enticing nose of strawberry, elderflower, and white peach. On the palate, this sprightly and savory rosé offers up bright cherry and other stone fruits. This is crazy delicious, like raspberry lemonade for grown-ups. Drink up! Only 30 cases produced.

2012 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir - Our fruit is all from the dynamic DuPratt Vineyard, a cool-climate vineyard up at 1500 ft near the Mendocino coast, which has been farmed organically since 2000. Vibrant ripe cherry and wild blackberry notes dominate the palate with a touch of clove spice on the finish. This is a truly expressive wine, lush but balanced with medium acidity. With soft tannins, this is ready to drink now but will continue to improve with age.

2012 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir - A lively acidity keeps this light on the palate but the wine remains richly textured, with high-toned wild red berry fruit singing alongside subtle notes of sandalwood, cedar and spice. This is classic Sonoma Coast fruit- earthy and complex, with forest floor and subtle toasted oak warming the palate.

2012 Lot 5 Red Blend - This is a fantastic wine and a hell of a bargain- a southern Rhone-style blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. Boisterous blackberry and plum fruit here, with hints of cassis and licorice. This is a lush, medium to full-bodied wine that is also easy drinking and food-friendly. Absolutely perfect for your next BBQ or pizza night. Enjoy!

2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve - Our Cabernet is sourced from Atwood Ranch, a 20-acre vineyard that supports organic and sustainable farming. It is on the site of one of the oldest vineyards in Sonoma. We pick our Cabernet block earlier than most for a distinctly old-world, lower alcohol style and a more lively, food-friendly wine. Fermented 50% whole cluster, the wild dark berry fruit mingles with cedar tobacco spice. It was aged for 20 months in neutral oak puncheons to preserve the vitality of fresh fruit character and subtle earthy aromatics.
